Jelly Babies

Confectionery historians (who knew?) believe the earliest Jelly Baby was the work of an Austrian confectioner who, in 1864, was asked to make a mould for jelly bears. The dufus messed up though and the resulting sweets looked more like newborn infants and were subsequently called ‘Unclaimed Babies'. Seems pretty dark, but these are delicious despite their ghoulish past.
